CASAS Math and Reading assessments and meeting with our Student
Advisor are required prior to enrollment in academic and
career training programs. There is also an orientation that is
required AFTER testing and Student Advisor meeting has been
completed.
PROCESS FOR ASSESSMENT (required before
registration)
Schedule your testing appointment here. This
is NOT a testing window. You will need to show up on
time at 8am, 10am, or 1pm and you will test for
approximately two to three hours:
Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday from 8:00 – 11:00am in Room 201
Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday from 10:00 – 1:00pm in Room 201
Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday from 1:00 – 4:00pm in Room 201
Wednesdays from 9:30 – 12:30pm in Room 200

Take your CASAS Reading and Math assessments (about 2 hours)
Meet with our Student Advisor Jairus Goines in Room 101 after you
finish your assessment tests.

PROCESS FOR ORIENTATION (required before
registration)
After taking your assessments and meeting with our Student
Advisor, you can now attend CAJ Orientation
Our Student Advisor will give you the time and date for your
Orientation when you meet with him.
Orientation will take place Wednesday mornings from 8:30 – 9:30am
and will include an overview of the school, resources available
to students, and a campus/program tour!
PROCESS FOR REGISTRATION
Once you have taken your assessment tests, met with our
Student Advisor, and attended the CAJ Orientation, now you
can register for your academic class or career training program!
Please come to the CAJ Main Office and have your funding
secured to pay for your career training program. Full payment is
due at time of registration.
A variety of vocational programs are available to learn job
skills for employment opportunities. Students may begin classes
throughout the year on a scheduled basis as space is available.
Interested persons should thoroughly study this website to learn
about their program of interest. The Charles Jones Career
and Education Center reserves the right to cancel classes due to
low enrollment. Additional supplies or equipment are not included
in the material fees. Material fees and book prices are subject
to change.
The Charles Jones Career and Education Center offers vocational
training programs approved by the Department of Veteran’s Affairs
for Veteran’s Education Benefits. Financial Aid (Pell Grant) is available for
those students who meet Federal guidelines. The Charles Jones
Career and Education Center partners with a number of social
service agencies, including the Department of Human Assistance,
Sacramento Employment & Training Agency, Veteran’s
Administration, Employment Development Department, One-Stop
Career Center, Job Corps, Asian Resources, Bach Viet, California
Indian Manpower Consortium, the National Guard, and many others.
All potential students must take an assessment test prior to
registration for HSE classes. Call our office at (916) 395-5800
for available testing dates or attend the weekly CAJ orientation
for more information.
HSE Prep is an open-ended lab class for students who wish to
take the Official HiSET® Tests and obtain a high school
equivalency certificate. Study is on an individualized
basis, and each student has his/her course tailored to their
needs. Students work at their own pace.
Morning classes: 8:30 -11:00 A.M. Monday through
Friday
Afternoon classes: 12:30 – 3:00 P.M. Monday through
Friday
